This is the second in my swan series, and the second painting of this same family of swans.  They are really a joy to paint.  It amazes me in the number of babies the mother swan can carry.

Jackson has become a hockey fan, well more Diesel (the mascot of the Rail Yard Dawgs) fan than hockey; but he does watch the game and reenacts portion of it playing at home!  So, for his 3rd birthday I decided he needed a painting of him with Diesel.  He fell in love with it.

I signed up for my first online class a few months ago, knowing I'd have access to the class whenever it fit into my schedule.  So, after waiting for a time when I had a full day to devote to it, I gave it a try this past week.  It was totally out of my comfort zone since it was done ala prima (which means wet on wet) and it also means painting fast and that is something I do not do.  However, at the end of the day this is the results of my first ala prima portrait painting of my grandson.  I was very pleased with this results.

 It's time again for the Lynchburg Art Festival.  Always a great art event, don't miss it; it's been two years and the artists' have had lots of time to create art for this show!!  Should be better than ever.

This barn is just one of the barns where a friend took several of us to plein air paint. There was a painting in every direction.  The mountain in the distance in Poor Mountain.  I hope to get to see it in the fall.

Doing a still life is totally out of my comfort zone, but it was a challenge piece for ArtVisions Gallery.  I have been trying to loosen my painting style, and doing a still life certainly does not allow me to do that.  But I am finding I'm starting to enjoy doing still life paintings.
